Michael Jackson

·         Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 19, 1958. Michael's father, Joe Jackson, worked as a crane operator at a steel mill. Both of Michael's parents loved music. His dad played guitar for an R & B band and his mother sang and played the piano. Growing up, all of the Jackson children were encouraged to study music
·         The three older brothers (Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine) formed a band called the Jackson Brothers. Michael and his brother Marlon joined the band in 1964. Soon, the family realized that Michael was a gifted singer and dancer. At just eight years old, Michael began to sing lead vocals along with his older brother Jermaine.
·         Joe Jackson realized that his children were very talented. He felt that they could become successful in music. They changed the name of the band to the Jackson 5 and began playing all around town. Then they began touring the Midwest where they played in bars and clubs. They won several talent shows and began to gain a name for themselves.
·         While still singing with the Jackson 5, Michael had a number of solo albums. At first his solo career didn't take off, but he did have a few hit songs including "Ben" and "Got to Be There." However, in 1978 Michael met music producer Quincy Jones while working on the set of the movie The Wiz. He broke away from the family band and worked on his first "grown up" album. In 1979, Michael released the album Off the Wall
·         Michael wanted to follow up Off the Wall with an even bigger album. This was going to be quite the task. He worked with Quincy Jones again and in late 1982 released the album Thriller. The album was a huge success. It had seven top ten singles and won eight Grammy awards. Eventually, Thriller would become the best selling album of all time. Michael had now become the biggest star in the music industry.
Although Michael's career peaked with the Thriller album, he released several more successful albums including Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (1995), and Invincible (2001).
·         Michael died of a heart attack on June 25, 2009. He was fifty years old. The heart attack was likely caused by drugs he was taking to help him sleep.

Cinderella

Cinderella’s mother died while she was a very little child, leaving her to the care of her father and her step-sisters, who were very much older than herself; for Cinderella’s father had been twice married, and her mother was his second wife. Now, Cinderella’s sisters did not love her, and were very unkind to her. As she grew older they made her work as a servant, and even sift the cinders; on which account they used to call her in mockery “Cinderella.” It was not her real name, but she became afterwards so well known by it that her proper one has been forgotten.
She was a very sweet-tempered, good girl, however, and everybody (except her cruel sisters) loved her.
CINDERELLA AT HOME.
It happened, when Cinderella was about seventeen years old, that the King of that country gave a ball, to which all ladies of the land, and among the rest the young girl’s sisters, were invited. And they made her dress them for the ball, but never thought of allowing her to go there.
CINDERELLA DRESSING HER SISTERS FOR THE BALL.
“I wish you would take me to the ball with you,” said Cinderella, meekly.
“Take you, indeed!” answered the elder sister, with a sneer; “it is no place for a cinder-sifter: stay at home and do your work.”
When they were gone, Cinderella, whose heart was very sad, sat down and cried bitterly; but as she sat sorrowful, thinking of the unkindness of her sisters, a voice called to her from the garden, and she went out to see who was there. It was her godmother, a good old Fairy.
“Do not cry, Cinderella,” she said; “you also shall go to the ball, because you are a kind, good girl. Bring me a large pumpkin.”
Cinderella obeyed, and the Fairy, touching it with her wand, turned it into a grand coach. Then she desired Cinderella to go to the trap, and bring her a rat. The girl obeyed, and a touch of the Fairy’s wand turned him into a very smart coachman. Two mice were turned into footmen; four grasshoppers into white horses. Next, the Fairy touched Cinderella’s rags, and they became rich satin robes, trimmed with point lace. Diamonds shone in her hair and on her neck and arms, and her kind godmother thought she had seldom seen so lovely a girl. Her old shoes became a charming pair of glass slippers, which shone like diamonds.
“Now go to the ball, my love,” she said, “and enjoy yourself. But remember, you must leave the room before the clock strikes eleven. If you do not your dress will return to its original rags. I approve of pleasure, but not of dissipation, and I expect that you will show your gratitude by obeying me.”
Cinderella kissed and thanked her godmother. Then she stepped into her coach and drove off, with her footmen behind, in great style. The Fairy, when she was gone, returned to Fairyland.
Cinderella was received at the King’s palace with great respect. The Lord Chamberlain bowed low to her, thinking she must be a very great lady by her dress and carriage, and he showed her at once into the ball-room.
THE FAIRY GODMOTHER.
She was so beautiful that everybody looked at her, and wondered who she was; and the Prince asked her to dance with him, and afterwards would dance with no one else.
ARRIVAL AT THE PALACE.
But she made haste to leave a little before the hour fixed, and had time to undress before her sisters came home. They told her a beautiful Princess had been at the ball, with whom the Prince was delighted. They did not know it was Cinderella herself, and she was amused to hear them admire her grace and beauty, and say that they were sure she was a royal lady.
The Prince was quite vexed when supper-time came, and he could not find his beautiful partner, and no one had seen her leave the room. But in hopes of beholding her again, he persuaded the King to give another grand ball. As soon as her sisters were gone to it, Cinderella’s godmother arrived.
“You were so good and obedient last time, that I shall let you go out again,” said she to the young girl.
And once more the rat, mice, grasshoppers, and pumpkin (which had gone back to their original shapes after the first ball) were turned into the grand carriage and attendants, and Cinderella, in rose-coloured satin and rubies, went to the royal ball.
Directly the Prince saw her, he asked her to dance, and would have no other partner, and as he led her past her two unkind sisters, she saw them look at her dress with envious eyes, and knew that they wished they were as beautiful, and as well-dressed as she was.
But in the midst of her enjoyment, Cinderella remembered the Fairy’s command, and at half-past ten glided out of the room, and drove home again. Her sisters found her waiting to undress them in her usual rags, and kept her up to tell her how beautiful the unknown Princess was, and how well she was dressed.
Again the Prince was vexed at the sudden disappearance of the beautiful stranger, and once more he persuaded the King to give a grand State ball.
“I wonder if Princess Beauty will be there!” said the sisters to Cinderella. “We must have new dresses, for she is so splendid. She makes every one look shabby.”
CINDERELLA DANCES WITH THE PRINCE.
Cinderella smiled as she helped them to dress. She was sure the Fairy would let her go to the ball too. And she was right. Her godmother, pleased with her obedience, came in good time, and Cinderella, dressed in blue satin and pearls, went in the same style as before.
CINDERELLA RUNS HOME AND LOSES HER SLIPPER.
The Prince would scarcely let her out of his sight, and Cinderella, who was getting a little spoiled by all the flattery she heard, began to think more of herself and less of the Fairy; so the time stole on, till glancing up at the clock, she saw it wanted only five minutes to eleven.
At once she darted out of the room, and ran through the palace as fast as she could go, but as she reached the hall, she lost one of her precious glass slippers! She did not stop to pick it up, but rushed to the door. Alas! the clock had struck
Eleven. She found no coach, only a pumpkin, and the rat and mice ran quickly away when they saw her; while all her fine dress turned to rags, and she had to run home alone in the darkness of the night.
The Prince was very much surprised when he missed Cinderella again, and leaving the ball, went in search of her. He asked all the attendants, but no one had seen her, and when inquiry was made of the porter, he said that no one had gone out of the palace except a poor ragged beggar-girl.
However, the Prince’s search was rewarded by his finding the glass slipper, which he well knew belonged to the unknown Princess. He loved Cinderella so much that he now resolved to marry her; and as he felt sure that no one else could wear such a tiny shoe as hers was, he sent out a herald to proclaim that whichever lady in his kingdom could put on this glass slipper should be his wife.
All the great ladies who wished to be a Princess tried to put it on, but in vain. Cinderella’s sisters tried, but could not get it on, and then Cinderella asked if she might try. They laughed at her; but the Prince, hearing of her wish, sent for her. She went with her sisters in her poor dress, but very clean, and at once put on the slipper. Then she drew the fellow of it from her pocket, and slipped it on her other foot.
The Prince, who had thought the moment he saw her that the poor girl was very much like the beautiful Princess, was delighted. He insisted on Cinderella telling him her story, which she did very modestly, and all listened with wonder.
CINDERELLA TRIES ON THE SLIPPER.
As her tale ended, the Fairy godmother suddenly entered the room, and placing her godchild’s hand in the Prince’s, said:
“Take this young girl for your wife, Prince; she is good and patient, and as she has known how to submit to injustice meekly, she will know how to reign justly.”
CINDERELLA MARRIED TO THE PRINCE.
So Cinderella was married to the Prince in great state, and they lived together very happily. She forgave her sisters, and treated them always very kindly, and the Prince had great cause to be glad that he had found the glass slipper.

video conference

So, when my class was doing the video conference, I couldn’t join them because I was taking a short trip to Lintau, my hometown. I was visiting my hometown because my grandmother passed away on October 2nd, 2016.  I got the news about my grandmother at about at 7AM when my mother called my father and I immediately searched for a ticket to Padang for me, my sister, my brother, and my father. I bought 4 tickets for a flight at 11:30 in Halim International Airport. But because we should pick my brother up at Lembang, we couldn’t get to the airport on time, so we missed the flight and my father should buy another 4 tickets at 3:30.
As we arrived in Padang, my relatives picked us up and we were immediately went to Lintau by car and it took 4 to 6 hours. We arrived at my house at 11PM and some of my relatives were staying overnight so my house was a little bit crowded.

I stayed there for 3 days and went home on Wednesday at 12:05. So when my class was doing the video conference, I was on my way to Minangkabau International Airport.

Place I Want to Visit

I want to tell you about the place I want to visit. It is Sumatra Barat to be exact Lintau, my hometown. It was near Batusangkar and doesn’t appear on the map but you can search it in Google. It takes 6 hours by car to Padang so when I visited my hometown every Eid Fitri, I didn’t go to Padang because it’s so far away. My hometown is not too crowded, but also its not too quite. But, the vehicle that passed the road always on high speed and it’s not save to cross the road when its crowded.
Something that everyone likes the most about Sumatra Barat is its traditional food. Because everyone loves rending and nasi padang. Who doesn’t?  But every time I visit my hometown, we never buy something from Padang restaurants, my grandmother always cooked for us, and it was the traditional food of Padang.

Its 2 years already since I didn’t visit my hometown because last year my brother should find his senior school and this year is my turn. So I really miss my hometown and I really want to m=visit my hometown this holiday.

MEGANTARA

This year, SMAN 3 Bandung presented a cultural festival called Megantara. it's about Nusantara so everything in this festival characterize Indonesia. From food, stands, stage, and traditional games were presented in this festival. I joined the committee in food festival division. So my job is to find food stands and food trucks to sell their food in this festival. the food must be traditional food and if its not traditional food, it was not allowed to characterize another country
This festival was held at Lapangan Bali 10th of September 2016 and the gate was open at 11.35. there are a lot of performance in this festival. The guest stars were RAN and The Changcuters. There were also performance from T'sT, vocal group, angklung, and fashion show that was joined by the 10th grade, But, I didn't really enjoy this festival because i had to look after the food truck so I'm the one who had the responsible to one of six food truck in this festival, it was Bobogi food truck, they sell milkshake and i got free milkshakes from them. I only watched The Changcuters performance but I was so excited, I didn't watched RAN performance because i had already watched it when they performed at SMPN 5 Bandung. The point is, this year's festival was so cool and I'm so proud of it :)

My Unforgettable Moment

My unforgettable moment was when I cracked my nose when I was practicing cheer at school. My nose bleeds for almost two days. It happened because at the time I was the back base and my flyer was practicing her double twist and her hand hit my nose several times. At first her hand hit my lips and then my jaw then hit my nose. one time when my flyer tried her double twist and her hand hit my nose, it was bleeding, After I caught her in my arms, I immediately let go of my flyer and pinch my nose. When I removed my hand, the blood were stream down to the floor then I cried immediately. My couch said that if I cried my blood wouldn’t stop stream down. So I stopped crying and I wasn’t allowed to join the practice at the time.

On the next day my mother was taking me to the hospital so I skip my first and second class. My doctor said I wasn’t allowed to join cheerleader anymore because if this thing happened again and I could break my nose and that was not good. So I stopped cheerleading and my father was so mad at me. But after a month, I joined cheerleader again but my couch changed my position to front base when we were going to regional competition and changed my position again to back base when we were going to the national and international competition in Bali.

Why I Choose SMAN 3 Bandung?

So it started when I moved to Bandung. When my parents were looking for my sister’s school, they read something about SMAN 3 Bandung, something good about it’s achievements I think. So after that, they constantly want their children to get in this school. By the way at the time I was at 4th grade, my brother was at 5th grade, and my sister was about to start her middle school and she was taking the RSBI test to enter SMPN 5 Bandung. My parents tell us about our soon to be school, to me and my brother was SDSN Banjarsari and to my sister was SMPN 5 Bandung.
That’s how my parents know SMAN 3 Bandung at the first time. Now I'm gong to to tell you how I know SMAN 3 and why did I choose this school. At the beginning of he school year (the first day of school in Bandung and I’m so excited) my teacher asked the students where are we going after we graduated from elementary school and some of my friends said SMPN 5 Bandung, some of them said SMPN 2 Bandung,  some of them said SMPN 7 Bandung and the others. Then my teacher asked again where are we going to when we graduated from that school and most of them said SMAN 3 Bandung. And I’m the only one who remained silent because I didn’t know much about it. Because of my curiosity, I asked my chairmate why is everybody want to go to SMAN 3 Bandung? And she said that this school have the best alumni and the test to get in there was so hard. And if you already get in there you have to study hard like 10 times more than what you already did now. After I heard that, I was like “oh I would never get in there, I was too lazy, I couldn’t survive when all of my friends were  ‘Einstein’ wanna be.”

So when I graduated from elementary school, I started to think where would I go when I graduated from middle school. I was motivated by my sister who get in SMA 3 after she graduated from middle school. But when I see her, she always study at night, and what I did everyday was watching television, reading comics dan the other. So I want to change myself and be a better person and study hard to get in there and make my parents proud because when my sister get in there, my parents  looked so proud and almost cry and at the time when she graduated, she passed the test to Faculty of Medicine Universitas Padjajaran and make our big family proud because she will be the first doctor in our family. So that’s why I choose SMAN 3, because I want to make my parents proud, and this school have the best alumni, one of them was my sister. :)

Woman Emancipation

Raden Ajeng Kartini was one of the most popular figures as a pioneer of women emancipation in Indonesia. She was born in Jepara 21st April 1979 and died at the age of twenty-five . She came from an aristocratic family. Kartini and other women life was tamed by Dutch at the time, they were not able to go to school or get an education. They were forced to stay at home and dothe house chores.
Her father was a Regency Chief of Jepara and her mother was a religion teacher. At the time, a chief must married a woman who came from highborn, because of that rule, Kartini’s father married daughter of King Maduraas his second wife.kartini was the 5th child from 11th children and she was the eldest daughter from both of her mother. Her grandfather was Pangeran Ario Tjondronegoro was a Regency Chief and the first one who allowed his children to get an education. But as her grandchildren, Kartini only allowed to get an education until she was 12 years old because at her age she can marry someone, or do the house chores to prepare herself to be a good wife for her future husband, because the governments think that only man who needs an education. But Kartini continued to educate herself at home, and she always sent a letter to her Dutch friend Rosa Abendanon. Kartini could speak Dutch really well so they became close-friend and Rosa Abendanon always supported her as a friend.
Kartini likes to read newspaper and she always describe her feelings with a letter. On 1911, all of her letters that was sent to her Dutch friends were recorded by Mr. J. H Abendanon, ‘Door Duisternis tot Licht’. This book was only published in five copies and in the last copy there was a letter by Kartini. But on 1938, there was another version of the old one. It were devided to several chapters, it showed changes in Kartini’s way of thinking during her corresponding time. There are eleven copies of this book. Her letters were translated in English by Agnes L Symmers and also translated in Sudanese and Javanese.
In 1964, the president of Indonesia at the time declared that Kartini’s birthday as ‘Kartini’s Day’ to remind all woman in Indonesia because of her kindness and spirit she taught us that woman had the same rights as man did and all woman could get a normal education. Not just that, every Kartini’s Day we always celebrate it by wearing our traditional clothes and sing ‘Ibu Kita Kartini’ that was written by W.R Soepratman song as appreciation of her and every women in  Indonesia struggle to be self-determined.

As a women, we should be super duper extra mega proud to be Indonesian and have Kartini as our hero. Because without her every woman in Indonesia wouldn’t get an education and have no rights to tell our thoughts.

About Me

Hello! My name is Safira Salma Nadhira, but you can call me Nadhine. A lot of people asked me, where did 'Nadhine' come from. I'm going to tell you, my mother wanted me to be called 'Nadhine' and I always explained to everyone that every Nadhine with H between D and I doesn't have 'Nadhine' on their full name. So enough about that, I was born in Jakarta June 1st 2001. Lintau is my hometown, if you didn't know where it is, it's actually okay because it doesn't appear on the map and none of my friends ever knows where it is located. It's in Sumatra Barat province, to be exact near Batusangkar. You could go to Padang by driving about 6 hours from there. That's why most of the time I'll only say I came from Padang, to make it easier for most of my friends to recognize.

I grew up in Jakarta with my family. I studied at Al-Azhar Islamic School until 3rd grade. I moved to Bandung and continued my study in 4th grade at SDSN Banjarsari. After I graduated from elementary school, I continued my study to SMPN 5 Bandung. At junior high school, I have a lot of memories. And I hope I can make a lot of memories too in SMAN 3 Bandung. By the way they were my close friends in junior high school and some of them got in SMAN 3 Bandung too :D
